This current debate on whether to or not to publish plumbing guides is heating up than ever before. Keeping in mind that each plumber might see the introduction of tutorials on plumbing as a trespassing of his economic interest, there are still strong doubts on how plumbing professionals can see their earning potential taking a beating.
This very move, no matter how glossy it sounds, can actually start harming the plumbers community. This can actually result in a severe and unprecedented loss of business over a period of time.
Ultimately, we might see the graph of Plumbing companies as well as independently operating plumbing contractors descending further down.
But frankly, we need to think a little out of the box. Instead of fretting over how and why this could dent their business prospects, the plumbing community should start contributing towards enriching the content of these tutorials. Considering the growing popularity of plumbers amongst clients, this will be just apt.
By bringing some plumbing guys to work on the content of these tutorials, we can really work on the credibility and goodwill of these plumbing people. By converting their expertise in a very accessible format, we can really work on the goodwill and popularity of the plumbing guys.
The one interesting thing about these plumbing tutorials would be that they would enlighten its readers about the inner model of high-end and complex plumbing works. But of course, you really cant expect a layman to breeze through tough plumbing jobs, so practically theres no threat of loss of business.
As a matter of fact, these guides are now changing their target and now becoming potential marketing tools. Considering the structure, content, presentation and scope of these guides, they are now emerging as innovative and mint-fresh medium for marketing. So thats some change in the wave!
To conclude on this, I feel that this trend will only spark us more towards understanding the business logic behind such strategic moves. Should we be complaining if we have a strategy working towards the benefit of both the parties involved? I guess the answer is a steep No. Lets get together and salute the new-age Business rudiments.
