Historic Civil War Dance Lessons: Fredericksburg

In this article we will see several characteristics of the Civil War Dance. When we hear the words Civil War these words suddenly come into mind: blood, death, war, and disaster. But then again there are still other things that comes to other peoples’ minds when it comes to Civil War and these are: dance, grace and modesty.

Civil War Dance is modest. The dance is also called as the Victorian Era dance where the past culture of America in ballrooms are exhibited. It includes basic steps which is often repetitive. It makes use of either very slow tunes or melodies and repeating beats. Its steps consists of very simple square and linear formation.

Civil War Dance makes use of a pairing system. It is also advisable for pairs to mingle around and pair with other people because ti spells good sense and manners. The pairing system consists of a boy and a girl. Dancing in pairs is commonly known as a customary dance form which expressess simplicity and eleggance. It is the polite thing to do in balls during those times. One should never be conformed to a single partner only because good manners entail that you should mingle and socialize with the crowd.

Civil War Dance is a form of festivity, a ritual for men and women to socialize and bond with each other. It is also a time where men put on their best suit and women don on their most impressive gowns. It is also an event where people show off their dignitaries and their social status: being invited in the house of a very ealthy and influencial person dictates wealth and power.
