The Master Suite

Many times the master suite is left untouched with updating designs and colors. You may not think of this room as being too important, but in fact it is the place where you should make the most out of a design. You’ll be able to be creative with your design and also make it a romantic place for you and your loved one.

Depending on the set up of your master bedroom and the way the dressing area and bath are connected, you can have them flow off of each other with colors. If you have basic white walls in your bath and bedroom, then sprucing things up and decorating can be very simple by adding some color here and there.

By changing the linens and the curtains around every few months you’ll get a newer feel with the design. As you know some curtains aren’t that affordable so make sure you look around and find something which is still in budget but will make the rooms design flow. Tabbed topped panels are a great design for curtains in the master suite. You just want to make sure you have the proper curtain rod for these types of curtains. Most of the tabbed topped panels have the rod visible so you don’t want a cheap rod sticking out. If you purchase rods try going for something which is colored since you won’t need to replace these when you switch out the curtains.

If you’re looking to switch out your linens and curtains every season for a new look try going for something brighter in the pastel color. This will be a great look for spring as well as summer. Try going for the pinks, greens, yellows, and melon colors to bring the brightness into the rooms design. In the winter you can always go with something heavier and darker since winter is the cooler months you want it to seem warmer indoors. Try going for blues and greens in the winter time. If you aren’t too thrilled with using bright colors in larger forms then add a few throw pillows into the mix. If you choose yellow bedding then throw a few pastel pink and green pillows onto the bed.

You can carry these same colors into the bathing area and if you have a garden tub with either a shelf close by or around the tub, adding some live plants or ivies or using silk plants is always a good touch. Try adding a rug in the colors from the bedroom, in front of the tub or shower. Also in the bedroom, you can add runners which are like area rugs along beside the bed or at the foot of the bed to also add a flare and some color for accent purposes.

Placing lace doilies on your end tables and even dressers will give you a great new look as well. It will soften the furniture piece as well as add a pinch of color. Placing area rugs on each side of the bed as well as the foot of the bed will also bring a punch of color and also a warmer feeling into the room’s textures.

Of course if you have a patio as well which runs off of the master suite you can’t leave this area out. Try adding some color outdoors as the same which is indoors. Use the cushion covers, flowers, and additional decor to represent the space and the flowing of design.
