You Might Nod Off Without a Driver Alarm

Have you ever nodded off at the wheel and woken up suddenly? Many of us have and we should all consider buying a driver alarm. Frightening statistics inform us how many people nod off whilst driving and tell us what damage can be caused. This may be a phenomenon experienced mostly by long-distance truck drivers, but we may all be guilty.

In the United States, almost 3/4 of us drive cars. Did you know that somewhere in the region of 100 million people are estimated to drive their cars when over tired, of which one third actually fall asleep at the wheel. The potential consequences are of course frightening, even if this action does not always result in an accident. Solve this problem by getting hold of a driver alarm.

If you work a very active lifestyle or work long shifts you are prone to falling asleep when driving. Very few people get the recommended eight hours of sleep per day due to their schedules and if you are driving home at the end of your work shift when sleep deprived, don’t be surprised if you nod off at the wheel.

It is estimated that there are more than 100,000 sleep-related crashes a year. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration calculates that more than $12 billion of monetary losses are suffered within the United States as a result of the more than 1500 deaths and manifold injuries so caused. If drivers were to carry a simple driver alarm mechanism, many of these gruesome statistics would be negated.

Similar to the action of a mercury switch, the driver alarm works by sending a loud alarm if your head dips below a certain level. This simple item alerts you immediately if you doze off, and you will certainly not sleep through its alert.

Don’t rely on opening the window to get fresh here to wake yourself up if you are feeling sleepy. The first thing you should do is pull off the road and take a nap, at the very minimum. Don’t become a statistic and invest in a life-saving device such as the driver alarm. If you work in a driving occupation or find that you are tired due to your schedule, it is a worthwhile purchase.

There is, potentially, a heavy economic cost involved when you nod off whilst driving, but this can be outweighed by the heavy personal cost. Jail sentences can be given to those who are found to have caused an accident by falling asleep. Multimillion dollar awards can be given out in civil lawsuits. If you think you may be vulnerable, go and get a driver alarm now.

Although the driver alarm will certainly keep the drowsy driver from falling asleep, don’t rely on it if you know you are going to be driving a long-distance when already tired. In this case, make sure that you have plenty of rest first.
